Only 6 kilometres separate Los Monteros from Marbella, yet this short distance is enough to transform it into a microcosm. Tree-lined streets shelter luxurious villas at the foot of a wide, long beach bare of stones. Along its miles of sandy beaches, charming seaside bars and traditional restaurants serving fish define this exclusive neighbourhood as an oasis of peace, privacy, and security, just minutes away from the buzz of Marbella.

Los Monteros is a traditional area whose history began, similar to Marbella Club or Puente Romano, with the creation of the Hotel Los Monteros (today, Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella). Founded in 1962 by the businessman Ignacio Coca from Salamanca, it was one of the first hotels in Spain to achieve the category of five-star luxury. After three expansions, it became a grand luxury hotel with 168 rooms, 20 villas, and more than 440 employees. Its rooms have hosted figures such as Queen Ingrid of Denmark, Michael Jackson, Sean Connery, Julio Iglesias, Lola Flores, and Baroness Von Thyssen.

Apart from being a pioneer in achieving five-star recognition, it set trends by creating its exclusive beach club La Ĉabane, one of the first in the world and certainly the first on the Costa del Sol. Its restaurant, Corzo (no longer in operation), made the hotel the first in Spain to receive a Michelin star from the prestigious gastronomic guide. The aura of this hotel spills over into the entire area, making it one of the most exclusive and sought-after in Marbella.

6 km east of Marbella’s centre, Los Monteros offers convenient access via the A-7 road, ensuring excellent connectivity to the rest of the Costa del Sol. Interestingly, despite its proximity to this major route, the area remains peaceful and quiet.

It’s important to note that the Costa del Sol is served by two main highways, the A7 and the AP7 (this is a toll road and allows for faster movement between different points, especially during the summer when traffic is heavier). Here are the driving times to the main destinations:

Los Monteros is a highly sought-after area because of its proximity to Marbella while being away from all the hustle and bustle. Truly, Los Monteros is an oasis of serenity, where luxurious villas spread out on large beachfront plots. Of course, these are the most craved properties. However, there are also apartments and penthouses available in gated communities. A bit further from the coast is the Los Altos de Los Monteros area, where luxury villas boast incredible views extending to Africa.

Since the neighbourhood is well-established and there are virtually no available plots for new construction, properties seldom come up for sale. Properties might range from 850,000 € to 200,000,000 € for beachfront villas with sea views.

Swing into action on the greens. Just minutes away from Los Monteros, the Río Real Golf Club, with its iconic 18-hole, par-72 course designed by the legendary Spanish designer Javier Arana, invites golfers of all levels to perfect their swing. Also nearby are the esteemed Santa Clara and Marbella Golf Country Club, ensuring plenty of fairways to explore.

Challenge friends to a match. Los Monteros Racket Club is a haven for racquet sports enthusiasts, offering top-notch clay tennis courts, glass paddle courts, beach volleyball, a gym, and a cozy café for a refreshing break.

Try out rugby. Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club offers excellent grounds and a relaxing clubhouse, making it a popular spot for players, youngsters, and parents alike.

Catch the wind and ride the waves. On the western coast of Los Monteros, Freedom KiteSchool offers a variety of kitesurfing courses, from beginner to advanced, in English, French, or Spanish, allowing for a thrilling experience over the waves.

Gallop away into the sunset. At El Repique equestrian centre, riding lessons, comfortable stables for horses, a pony club for the kids, and a relaxing café are available. Also, in Los Altos de Marbella, Hacienda MonteMarina is a top-tier equestrian club that features a 100-hectare finca, a championship dressage arena, a world-class show jumping arena, and an indoor riding arena. 

Feel the Thrill. The Funny Hills complex features a go-kart track for children (ages 6 and up) and adults, bumper cars, a VR Park, a trampoline, a ball pit, and a little train. It’s the perfect spot for a fun-filled family day out.

Chill out on a spa day. After a day of activities, unwind at Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella’s wellness area, featuring yoga classes, a fully-equipped gym, and a luxurious hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, and hammam.

La Ĉabane Beach Club. There are places like no other. There are places that we will remember forever. A bit farther towards Málaga, this super hippie-chic beach bar offers beach service (though without a pool) with comfortable sun loungers, lounges, and double beds that do not allow children under 12. At their tables, guests can enjoy Asian-Mediterranean-Nikkei cuisine crafted by Chef Gema González. Additionally, refreshing cocktails and mocktails are served, which can be enjoyed before or after a relaxing massage.

Oyana Beach. On the border of Los Monteros with El Rosario, it’s perfect for a sunrise breakfast with your feet in the sand. The restaurant offers Mediterranean-inspired dishes with gluten-free options. The bar serves signature cocktails to enjoy on one of the sun beds with a view of the blue sea. It opens daily from 9:30 AM, and the kitchen closes at 11:00 PM.

Trocadero Arena. Set against the beach, this chiringuito was created by Lorenzo Queipo de Llano, the designer known for his work on the Ritz Hotel in Madrid alongside Carolina Herrera. It offers Mediterranean cuisine with Japanese options and sunbeds with sea views, providing a unique dining experience. 

H19. The Club House at Santa María Golf Club serves Mediterranean cuisine with international touches. Set in a mountainous environment, it offers everything from crafted snacks to gourmet dishes with views of the first tee. Since this is aligned with the 18th hole, it’s possible to watch the entire game while enjoying the meal.

The area is residential yet conveniently close to supermarkets, shops, schools, restaurants, and bars. Many of these amenities are located in El Rosario, a neighbourhood just a five-minute drive away. It’s also within easy reach of Marbella city centre and Elviria, a bustling commercial area just seven minutes away by car.

Los Monteros’ location fosters exceptional access to healthcare.
